Ingredients

Heres a general list of the ingredients I use in soapmaking. Not everything goes into a bar of soap, but I’ve used a combination in most of my recipes.

Coconut Oil {virgin}
Palm kernel oil
Olive oil {extra/virgin, pomace}
Palm oil {unrefined}
Shea butter {unrefined}
Cocoa butter {raw}
Sesame seed oil
Sunflower oil

Neem
Rosemary
Sage
Mint
Lemongrass
Calendula

Honey
Beeswax
Sugar

Sea salt
Sodium hydroxide {food grade}

Water

Essential oils: rosemary, lemongrass, tea tree, citronella, peppermint, lavender
Skin safe fragrance oils

Papaya
Avocado
Plantain
Alkanet root
Annato seeds

Bentonite clay
Camwood {osun}
French red clay
Kaolin clay
Cocoa powder
Oatmeal
Poppy seeds

Cornstarch or corn silk
Soap dyes

20150114-194308.jpgmy first papaya soap lasted a couple of years without spoiling. I didn’t use it often enough to accretion skin lightening properties though 😉
